Candle FAQ's

The Candles

What oil is used in the candles?

We use a mixture of essential and fragrance oil. We never use oils that have been tested on animals and always avoid parabens and other nasties.

What type of wax do you use?

We use a coconut and soy blend, our cocosoy wax is 100% plant based and cruelty free.

How can I make the most of my candle?

Each Studio Forty Seven orders comes with a care card, if you follow those tips, you can't go wrong!

Remember to always trim your wick before relighting, we suggest getting it to around 1cm but a little shorter should be fine.

If you find that your wick has cured into the wax, you can either very carefully put a pin or something long and thin through the hole in the middle of the wick and pull up very gently. If that's not working, melt the top layer of wax with a hairdryer to loosen the wick - but be sure not to hold the hairdryer too near to the candle. Nobody wants flying wax!

Aim to blow out your candle before the 4 hour mark. Burn for any longer and your candle is likely to start sooting - that's when you get big black marks all over the inside of the glass. It'll also be very hot so be super careful.

Do you offer bespoke scents?

Whilst we don't offer white label candles and don't plan to do so, we are more than happy to work on a collaboration candle with you, whether that's using our existing scents or something new. Drop us an email with your requirements. Please note that bespoke candles have a minimum lead time of 8 weeks.
